Bird Watching

Monmouthshire is a beautiful county with rolling hills, forests, woodlands, fields, valley's, nature reserves, rivers and reservoirs providing a wide range of habitats for a variety of birds species.

So far Within the grounds at Parsons Grove we have counted 60 different species to date and we are still counting(see list).

There are also many smaller sites locally where you can see a variety of birds and there are several footpaths which you can take from the cottages or from just a short drive away, giving you the opportunity to combine walking and birding for a wonderful day out.   • Sunday 6th November - Newport Wetlands - a walk to explore the reed beds in winter. You should see Cetti's Warblers and Water Rails plus over wintering wildfowl such as tufted duck, pochard and wildfowl
  • Sunday 19th November - A guided walk conducted in Welsh starting at Uskmouth in the morning and Goldcliff ion the afternoon
  • Sunday February 2nd 2012 - Newport Wetlands - a walk to discover the reed beds in winter
